July 2005 г. A delegation from Sweden visited Novozybkov at the end of July. Members of The Lions Club continue their humanitarian project on reconstruction of the maternity hospital. Last year Lions finished the first part of the project - the major overhaul of a delivery branch. Besides that, the new medical equipment was bought due the financial help of the Swedish philanthropists. The director of the Lions international projects Lennart Arnlund and the head of Novozybkov project Monica Antonsson confirmed their intentions to start the reconstruction of the gynecologic branch. The Lions Club has more than 15000 members - people who take part in different actions to collect money for humanitarian projects around the world.

June, 2005. Third annual festival of amateur theatres "Slavyansky perekrestok" ("Slavic crossroads") took place in Novozybkov on June, 3-5. Five theatres arrived in Novozybkov to take part in festival: folk theatre "Viaduct" (Zhlobin, Belarus), theatre-studio "Mozart" (Chernigov, Ukraine), theatre "Adults and children" (Bryansk), student's theatre "Pulse" of Regional colledge of culture and arts (Bryansk) and Novozybkov folk drama theatre. Performance of Bryansk regional theatre of a drama has been hors concours presented at the openning ceremony. Boris Yarysh, the main director of Bryansk regional theatre, has headed jury of festival.

April, 2005. Seventh annual ceremony of the public premium "Serebryany Kolokol'chik" ("The Silver handbell") for the contribution to culture and creative achievements has passed in a hall of children's art school. Winners of the premium are: the master of stamping A.A.Filimontsev, the author of Novozybkov hymn V.F.Luzik, actor of Novozybkov folk drama theatre O.A.Jurchenko, regional specialist A.G.Epshtejn, the artist, former director of the art school A.V.Chirok, poet V.N.Korytko, the head of folk ensemble "Kalinka" O.V.Pismennaja, journalist I.I.Solovev, musician V.V.Goncharov, trainer I.B.Anisimov. The premium "For the personal contribution to culture" was received by Leonid Oliferenko.
