Seventh annual ceremony of the public premium "Serebryany Kolokol'chik" ("The Silver handbell") for the contribution to culture
and creative achievements has passed
in a hall of children's art school. Winners of the premium are: the master of stamping A.A.Filimontsev,
the author of Novozybkov hymn V.F.Luzik, actor of Novozybkov folk drama theatre O.A.Jurchenko, regional specialist A.G.Epshtejn,
the artist, former director of the art school A.V.Chirok, poet V.N.Korytko,
the head of folk ensemble "Kalinka" O.V.Pismennaja, journalist I.I.Solovev, musician V.V.Goncharov, trainer I.B.Anisimov.
The premium "For the personal contribution to culture" was received by Leonid Oliferenko.

Development of a cellular network "Megaphone" in Bryansk area proceeds.
Towns Unecha, Klintsy, Novozybkov are included in a zone of a radiocovering of "Megaphone". The dealer network also expands - seven dealer shops were opened in Novozybkov and Klintsy
All interested persons can be connected to a network here, learn in more detail about tariffs and the services given by the operator.
Thus, now inhabitants of Novozybkov can use the services of all three largest operators of mobile communication of Russia (MTS, "Beeline", "Megaphone").

The winner is "Bezhitsa" club from Bryansk, "Vygonichi" is the third.
The biggest score was achived in match "Novozybkov - Starodub" - 18:0 in favour of Novozybkov.

The first section of a new house at the crossroads of Lomonosova and 307 divizii streets has been finished.
House will contain 164 apartments (32 - in the built section). Builders are planning to completely finish the work by the end of 2005.
The part of financial means for house construction is provided by the future tenants, the other part - by the regional authorities.

The results of the City Mayor elections have been announced. The current Mayor Ivan Nesterov has got 43,4% of votes,
Viktor Khanaev - 32,6%, Nikolay Pozhilenkov - 9,1%, Sergey Voronovsky - 3,9%, Valery Lapkovich - 3,1%.
So, Ivan Nesterov will continue to work as a City Mayor. More than a half of Novozybkov inhabitants (53,5%) took part in elections.
October, 2004.
On December 5 people of Novozybkov shall take part in elections of the City Mayor.
The list of candidates has been already formed.
They are: current Mayor Ivan Nesterov, deputy of the Regional Duma Sergey Voronovsky,
doctor Viktor Khanaev, the director of road-construction enterprise Valery Lapkovich and the editor-in-chief of a local newspaper "Mayak (Beacon)" Nikolay Pozhilenkov.
Elections of deputies of City Duma, Regional Duma and the Regional Governor are appointed to the same date.

The 230th anniversary of Old-Believers Nikola's church - one of the most significant architectural monuments of Novozybkov -
was celebrated in the end of September.
There were many guests not only from the nearest cities, but also from Moscow, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova.
A special anniversary brochure telling about the history of the temple were printed in Moscow.
The city mayor Ivan Nesterov and the main architect of Novozybkov Tatyana Komarova have visited the celebration to congratulate the parishioners.
Reconstruction and replacement of the main dome of a temple is now conducted with the support of city administration.

One more sport object has appeared in Novozybkov - a new bicycle track was opend at Vokzal'naya street.
A 400-meters track 7 meters in width was constructed under the project of the Belarus experts on cycling.
Solemn opening of a bicycle track has taken place on September 12 during the celebration of the Day of City.
First sports competition was organized here at the same day. Many children of Novozybkov and neighbour cities participated in the competition.

Major overhaul of the first building of a maternity hospital has come to the end.
This became possible due the great aid of the Swedish charitable organization of the Lions Club.
"Lions" collect 3.5 million roubles. 0.5 million roubles more were recieved from the Regional administration.
All the communications were replaced, premises were well-equiped, the facade and the roof are restored.
The opening of a reconstructed maternity hospital took place on September 11 with participation of the Swedish guests and representatives of the Regional administration.
